Shirodhara

Shirodhara is a key element of Panchakarma

Panchakarma is a method of cleansing the body of all the unwanted waste after lubricating it. Panchakarma treatment is unique since it includes preventive, curative and promotive actions for various diseases.

1. Abhayang massage: (also called snehana, which means “to nurture or love”) using oil can be self-practiced, with a focus on forehead, temples and ears, face, palms and soles. These parts of the body have rich blood supply and profuse nerve endings, have Marma points which are believed to represent individual organs, and their massage helps in relieving pain and rejuvenating them.

2. Shirodhara : Shirodhara comes from the two Sanskrit words “shiro” (head) and “dhara” (flow). It’s an Ayurvedic healing technique that involves having someone pour liquid — usually oil, milk, buttermilk, or water — onto your forehead. It’s often combined with a body, scalp, or head massage. The STHAPNI marma on the forehead gets stimulated, which is the main Marma for mind and hypothalamus.
